Krka National Park tour
DalmaTravel | 15.03.2026.
There are few things better than a sunny day in Croatia—except maybe spending it exploring Krka National Park, one of the country’s natural treasures. I recently joined an organized minivan tour to Krka, and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I made during my trip.
National Park Krka is a breathtaking masterpiece of nature, arguably the crown jewel of Croatia’s Dalmatian coast. While its more famous sibling, Plitvice Lakes, is known for its sheer scale, Krka offers a more intimate, accessible, and diverse experience.
Whether you're looking to hike through emerald forests or explore ancient history, here is a guide to making the most of your visit.
Highlights: What to See
Skradinski Buk: This is the park's "superstar." It’s a massive natural pool with 17 cascading waterfalls. The 1.9 km wooden boardwalk loop takes you over the water and through historic watermills.
Roški Slap: Often called the "Vast Necklace" because of its series of small cascades. It’s much quieter than Skradinski Buk and surrounded by lush hiking trails.
Visovac Island: A tiny, postcard-perfect island in the middle of a lake, home to a 15th-century Franciscan Monastery. You can reach it via a short boat excursion.
Manojlovac Slap: The tallest waterfall in the park (about 60 meters). It’s located in the upper part of the park and offers a more rugged, dramatic view.
Burnum: For the history buffs, these are the remains of a Roman military amphitheater and camp located in the northern section of the park.

Essential Tips for Your Visit: Choose Your Entrance
Lozovac: The main entrance with free parking. Best if you want to walk down or take the quick shuttle bus.
Skradin: Best for "romantics." You park in the town and take a scenic 20-minute boat ride up the river to the waterfalls.
The Swimming Rule: It is important to note that swimming is prohibited at Skradinski Buk to preserve the delicate travertine barriers. However, swimming is permitted in designated areas at Roški Slap, Stinice, and Pisak from June 1 to September 30.
Go Early: The park opens at 8:00 AM in the summer. Arriving at opening allows you to enjoy the boardwalks before the tour buses from Split and Zadar arrive around 10:30 AM.
Footwear Matters: Even though there are boardwalks, they can get slippery when wet. Wear sturdy sandals or sneakers—leave the flip-flops for the beach.
Pack Water: Prices inside the park for food and drinks are "tourist-tier." Bring a refillable bottle; there are natural springs where you can top up.
